Chemical Characteristics of Ore-Bearing Intrusions and the Origin of PGE–Cu–Ni Mineralization in the Norilsk Area

The composition of the parental magmas Cu–Ni deposits is crucial for elucidation their genesis. In order to estimate role magma in ore formation, it necessary compare compositions silicate rock intrusions with different mineralization patterns, as observed Norilsk region. geochemistry two massifs located same Devonian carbonate rocks—the Kharaelakh intrusion, its world-class platinum-group element (PGE)–Cu–Ni deposit, and Pyasinsky-Vologochansky large deposit—was studied. Along these massifs, 2 massif noneconomic intruded Ivakinskaya-Nadezhdinskaya basalts was studied well. Their settings allow estimation composition, taking into account possible assimilation host rocks. Analyses 39 elements 97 samples demonstrated similarity terms major components. intrusion contains highest trace contents compared evidencing crystallization from evolved magma. No influence rocks on found, except narrow (1–2 m) endo-contact zones. There no correlation between volume intrusions. It assumed that were formed one crustal source irregularly rich sulfur (S).
